At Power-Tripp Performance, we are experienced with Power Commanders, Bazzaz Performance Z-Fi fuel and traction control, TuneBoy/TuneEdit, Teka SFI (Suzuki), aftermarket engine management systems and data logging, and even the various factory "race" ECUs and software. Our experience with many tuning options does not confine us,
or our customers, to a single or limited number of tuning options. This allows us to better match our customer's tuning options to their budget and end results. Whether it is carbureted, fuel injected, four-stroke, two-stroke, or even rotary, we can tune it to perform and respond at it's peak.
We have considerable experience tuning both pump gas and alternative fueled engines. So, YES, we can tune methanol, ethanol, nitromethane, leaded and/or oxygenated race fuels, and E85 fueled bikes... including two-strokes.
TUNING OPTIONS:
Power Commander:
www.powercommander.com
This is an aftermarket add-on unit that allows tuning of fuel.
By mounting the unit on the bike, tuning the unit is done via a cable to a computer.
Options on some models include ignition, quick shifter control, boost enrichment, etc.
Bazzaz Performance Z-Fi:
www.bazzazperformance.com
Like the Power Commander, this is an add-on unit that allows control of fuel. Especially usefull for engines that use two injectors per cylinder as it can control up to 8 injectors.
Options include quick shifter, traction control, etc.
JuiceBoxPro:
http://www.twobros.com/Perf_Products/Juice_Box_Pro/JuiceBox-Pro.htm
Very similar to a Power Commander.
Teka SFI 2:
http://www.factorypro.com/Teka_SFI_2/Teka_SFI_2_TPS_MMT_module.htm
This is a newly released (updated and improved) programmer that connects directly to the ECU on most 1998 or newer fuel injected
Suzuki bikes. It allows us direct adjustment of the factory ECU's fuel parameters in real time at various load conditions from idle to wide open throttle. Nothing additional to add-on or buy.
Once tuning is completed, the unit is removed from the bike.
ThunderMax EFI controller:
www.thunder-max.com
This is an add-on unit that allows control of fuel on Harley Davidson bikes.
There are also many options for both mechanical and electronic static timing advance for many popular bikes. Call for more information.
More advanced options:
TuneBoy/TuneEdit:
www.tuneboy.com.au
Tuneboy is a diagnostics package for all supported bikes. It also allows for reading and resetting of engine codes.
TuneEdit is a tuning package that requires a tuning key for each ECU to be tuned.
This is an aftermarket software and cable bundle that allows direct tuning of the stock ECU on many models of bikes. See website for makes and models supported.
The only downside is a lack of real time tuning (the engine cannot not be running when flashing ECU), so this requires more time to tune than some other options. But the details of being able to directly control timing, individual cylinder fueling, rev limit, idle, starting, etc. makes this a very good option for the models supported.
TuneECU:
www.tuneecu.com
TuneECU is a free diagnostic, testing, and tuning solution for Triumph, KTM, and Aprilia models that allows full mapping of the stock ECU much like TuneBoy/TuneEdit.
ECUeditor:
www.ecueditor.com
TuneEditor is a tuning solution that allows mapping in the stock ECU of Suzuki Hayabusa, GSXR1000, and B-King models.
Harley Davidson Race Tuner and Screaming Eagle Race tuner (HDRT/SERT):
Like TuneEdit, the Race tuner is a software and cable package that allows direct control of the factory ECU's fuel and timing parameters, rev limit, starting, idle, etc. It does require connecting an add-on box to the bike, but this is primarily for keying the bike's ECU to the tuning bundle.
MasterTune:
Like the HDRT and SERT, this allows full mapping in the ECU of Harley Davidson models. Produced by the makers of the SERT and offers a few more options than the SERT.
Factory "Race" ECU's and software:
Many motorcycle manufactures offer "race kit" ECU's for their sport bikes.
Some of these ECUs are not adjustable without an aftermarket solution like those above.
But
some of these ECU's (mostly Japanese) come with a software and cable package that allows control of fueling, timing, exhaust valving, intake throttles (primary and secondary),idle, starting, rev limit, etc.
For highly modified or race bikes, this is a
strongly recommended alternative when available.
Aftermarket engine management:
The aftermarket offers many engine management ECU options for motorcycles from mild to wild.
These options from Motec, Microtech, Link EMS, EFI Technologies, Pectel, etc. can offer TOTAL control over the engine in ways that far exceed the factory ECUs. Many of these systems also offer data logging and diagostics.
For highly modified race engines, this can be a great investment for your racing program.
This is, by far, an incomplete list of tuning options, but it should give you a starting point.
